What is Voice over IP?

Also called trendy things like 'Internet Phones' or 'Broadband Phones' - VoIP is the use of the internet rather than traditional PSTN to transmit telephone calls. Because there is less need for expensive infrastructure, the result is cheaper phone calls and the ability to make and receive telephone calls anywhere that you can connect your telephone to the internet.

This may sound too good to be true and sometimes this can be the case. Many providers slice their bandwidth too finely to reduce prices and increase revenue, resulting in poor quality calls - typically latency (echo) and fluctuating volume. The technology has been around for a long time and services like Skype work very well. Only relatively recently have good quality telephone services come into the general market. We have been testing various solutions for some time, but until now could not find a partner provider that we felt provided a good enough service for us to promote. We have now switched our entire office system on to VoIP with Entacall and have set up a portal to enable you to sign up with Entacall online.

To see what is involved and the savings you can make, download this document ( in .pdf format) for pricing and then click here to sign up. You will be able to choose a geographic telephone number local to you (e.g. 01603 for Norwich) and be up and running within minutes.

You will also require a VoIP telephone. Please contact us if you would like further information on our selection of VoIP telephones or where to obtain software phones.
